The mother who accused CM Punk of ignoring her 6-year-old son at a WWE hotel has now deleted her video and statement after Punk’s fans turned against her online.
The controversy started after Punk posted a since-deleted Instagram Story one day after WWE’s live event in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He thanked the crowd before warning people not to follow him back to his hotel.
“Ahi for breakfast. Breakfast of champions. Please do not follow me to my hotel. Las Cruces, you were lovely—loud and fun. See you all soon. Albuquerque on deck. Thank you.”
Punk never identified anyone or explained exactly what happened. His post made it sound like somebody had followed him from the arena to the hotel.
Ringside News later learned about an encounter involving a family and their 6-year-old son, Matthew. The mother said her family was already inside the hotel when the boy noticed Punk and became excited. A family member accused Punk of “mad-dogging” them after Matthew recognized him. The mother walked away from the encounter with a harsh message for her son.
“Don’t meet your heroes.”
The mother then issued a statement denying that her family stalked Punk or invaded his personal space. She said they arrived at the hotel around the same time as several WWE stars and only hoped Punk might acknowledge the children.
“We did not stalk him or invade his space. We arrived at the hotel at the same time as some of the wrestlers. A little smile or wave would have been nice, but instead, he totally ignored the boys and walked past them after the boys acknowledged him. No pasa nada.”
She also shared photos of her family meeting Trick Williams, Charlotte Flair, Oba Femi and other WWE stars at the same hotel. Those wrestlers stopped, spoke with the boys and took pictures with them.
The situation quickly spread online, and a large number of Punk supporters defended him while criticizing the mother. Some argued that Punk had every right to ignore anyone approaching him outside a WWE event, even if the person was a child.
The mother has now deleted both her video and written statement about the encounter. She did not explain why the posts were removed or whether the backlash from Punk’s fan base played a direct part in her decision. The mother originally wanted people to know that her family did not stalk CM Punk. After the backlash, that statement and the video connected to it are gone, leaving the entire situation with more questions than answers.
