CM Punk went all in during a Hawaii vacation with A.J. Lee, packing on 20 pounds in just seven days before dropping the entire load less than a week later.
Punk returned to WWE television on the July 6 episode of Monday Night Raw after several months away and defeated Sami Zayn to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship.
During his appearance on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast, Punk explained how far he took his cheat meals while vacationing in Hawaii with his wife. Punk said he landed on the island weighing 204 pounds. By the time the seven-day trip ended, he had climbed all the way to 224 pounds.
“In Hawaii recently, I went overboard with the cheat meals to where it got bad. I arrived on the island at 204 pounds, and I left at 224 pounds. I was there for seven days.”
That is nearly three pounds gained per day, but Punk did not need long to get himself back into fighting shape. When asked how quickly he returned to his previous weight, Punk said it only took five days once he got home and locked back into his routine.
“Five days. I came back and locked in.”
Punk did not reveal everything he ate during the trip, but gaining 20 pounds in one week makes it clear he was not spending his vacation counting calories. The sudden weight gain did not stop him from getting ready for his WWE comeback. Punk returned to Raw looking prepared and walked away with the biggest prize in the company after defeating Zayn.
Punk may have lost control of the cheat meals in Hawaii, but he wasted no time cleaning up the damage. Twenty pounds arrived during a seven-day vacation and disappeared in five days once the WWE Champion decided it was time to work.
