CM Punk’s return to WWE RAW on November 3 came with a mic in one hand—and a fashion faux pas, according to one former WWE star. While fans were still celebrating Punk’s WWE World Heavyweight Title win at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Matt Morgan had something else on his mind: the sweatshirt.
Morgan, a longtime Punk supporter, took to Twitter with a now-deleted post, where he couldn’t help but call out Punk’s attire during the promo segment. Despite praising Punk’s title win, Morgan tore into the sweatshirt choice with zero hesitation.
“Wow, one of my favorite parts of SNME was CM Punk winning the world title finally, but I gotta keep it a buck! Even though I have declared myself as the bus driver of the official ‘CM Punk fan club,’ I need to know who held my boy at gunpoint forcing him to wear this hand-me-down sweatshirt on national television and told him it was cool?!”
Morgan didn’t stop there. He compared the look to something straight out of the comedy Step Brothers and questioned how WWE could allow their new champion to hit the ring looking less than elite.
“It’s literally a step away from the argyle sweaters worn in the movie ‘Step Brothers’! How the hell do you have ‘bad ass’ CM Punk come out to the ring rocking this crap?!”
Morgan—who pointed out that he’s older than Punk—also suggested that the wardrobe choice didn’t sit well with younger viewers either.
“I’m pretty sure I’m at least five years older than Punk, and if I see this at 49, so do millions of other younger generations watching the show.”
Before ending the tweet, Morgan joked that maybe Fanatics was to blame—but admitted, “who knows.”
The tweet has since been deleted, but not before fans grabbed screenshots and started debating whether Punk’s look was just laid-back or truly tragic.
CM Punk didn’t respond to the wardrobe critique and likely has bigger things to focus on—like the fact that Logan Paul betrayed him during RAW and teased joining The Vision, setting up a major new storyline for the champ.
