Chelsea Green isn’t ready to let her interaction with Gunther die after one segment.
Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Green was shown an edited image of herself standing across the ring from Gunther in a match for the WWE Women’s Championship. Instead of laughing the idea off, Green leaned straight into it. She revealed she had actually seen Gunther at a WWE live event the previous day and asked him whether their recent television interaction had accidentally booked them into a feud.
“I love it. Chelsea versus Gunther. Okay. 2026. I actually just saw him at the live event yesterday and I said, ‘Did we book ourselves into a feud?’ I don’t think he liked that, but I’ll continue. Hey, if I could do it with Penta. Wouldn’t that be so hilarious?”
Green said part of the appeal came from how different the interaction felt. WWE rarely puts its male and female stars in physical situations together, and Green acknowledged that there are clear boundaries around what the company normally allows.
“I just know he would, like, just based off of what he gave me in that moment. I’ve never interacted with him in the ring. Rarely do we interact with men ever on WWE TV, right? Like, we just have a very hard boundary that we try not to cross, especially for cable TV, and there’s limits to what we can do.”
Still, Green said the segment immediately came alive when Gunther walked out. Green also gave Gunther credit for letting her unload on him verbally instead of worrying about protecting himself during the exchange.
“That was incredible. Like, I felt alive in that moment. I mean, once I finished the promo and I was relieved that I said what I needed to say, that the fans were behind it. I felt like it was palpable, like the audience and the energy. Then when he came out and he was just so nasty and rude and like he looked like a real-life villain, I had so much fun.”
“Gunther, like I need to give it to him. Like he let me say whatever I wanted to say. A lot of times, like, our egos get in the way and we’re like—but, but—like, he let me cook him. I loved it.”
Green clearly saw something in that exchange that she thinks could go further. WWE may have boundaries when it comes to male-versus-female matches, but she isn’t exactly hiding the fact that she’d be interested in finding out how far they could take Chelsea Green versus Gunther.
