Chelsea Green isn’t stepping into the ring at WrestleMania 42 due to her ankle injury— but now there’s a clearer picture of when that could change

After questions started popping up about why she isn’t wearing a boot or fully sidelined, Green revealed that she’s actually able to walk despite breaking her ankle—but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to get back in the ring. Speaking to The Sportster on April 18, 2026, Green addressed the confusion head-on, explaining why her situation isn’t as straightforward as people think.

“So, the ankle is confusing, and I never know how to answer because everyone is like, ‘Well, why aren’t you in the boot?’”

She then broke down the injury itself, making it clear that the type of fracture she suffered still allows her to put weight on it. That’s where the misunderstanding comes in—because while she can move around normally, wrestling requires a completely different level of physical demand.

“Look—I broke my ankle, but I broke it on the side, which means it is weight-bearing. I’m okay to walk. However, there’s more nuance to wrestling than just running straight and walking. So it is still painful, but I can live my life normally—it’s just, unfortunately, I can’t wrestle normally.”

Still, there are signs of progress. The former Women’s United States Champion revealed she’s already taking small steps forward in her recovery as she is now in heels for the first time since her injury.

“But I hope to be back really soon, because this is my first week in heels.”

This comes after she previously confirmed she’ll be missing in-ring action at WrestleMania 42, instead planning to stay involved through media and backstage work while she recovers.

Bottom line — Chelsea Green can walk on her injured ankle, but that doesn’t mean she’s close to full clearance. Until she can handle the demands of wrestling without pain, she’s staying out of the ring—even if the recovery is moving in the right direction.

Do you think Chelsea Green should wait until she’s fully healed before returning, or come back as soon as she’s cleared even if she’s not at 100%? Let us know your thoughts.
