Mysterio points out that he had a great support system growing up, and he became accustomed to working with older people at a very young age. He thinks this resulted in him “growing up” very quickly. He lived somewhat of a double life as a young child, as he’d cross the border every morning to go to school in San Diego, and after school was over he’d cross over back into Mexico and would do all his homework before going to wrestling school.
He notes that he’d train until 11-11:30 at night and then get up to school again in the morning. He enjoyed it very much and wouldn’t change a thing about it, and even during the days that he didn’t enjoy it he still learned something and that made him the man he is today.

Mysterio says he’s very saddened by all the events that are taking place at the United States/Mexico border. He says he can’t imagine what would have happened if he would have been stripped from his parents all those years ago. The living conditions in Mexico are up and down, but it’s not terrible. He still travels in and out of Mexico at least once a month.
Mysterio talks about the struggles that his size presented. He informs that his size never bothered him until he started training to wrestle. His size became an easy target for his coaches who used his small stature as a criticism towards him. He didn’t think that was fair but he never let those criticisms get to him. He never saw his size as an issue and he did everything he could to make other people see things that way as well.
