She points out that her parents struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, but it’s hard for her to blame them because they struggled a lot throughout life. She has been focused on breaking that lifestyle and she refuses to alter her mindset in any way. She has never done drugs and she doesn’t drink alcohol.

Her mother is clean and fighting the good fight every day, but her father passed way from drug and alcohol abuse and depression. That motivates her to pick herself up every day, and she urges children in the position that she was in to fight through it and get yourself out of that situation.

She informs that she still works through her own depression issues, but the Marines really helped her with that. She notes that dealing with depression takes a lot of work, and you can’t take a day off. She believes that some people get so bogged down by the depression that they feel that they can’t deal with it.

When she thought about trying out for WWE she googled everything about Divas and didn’t think there was a fit for her at all. She was on a SWAT team in the Marines and owned her own construction company, yet she knew she had to take the opportunity to work for WWE because of the platform it would give her to talk to young children.
