Charlotte Flair has accomplished nearly everything possible in WWE, but there is still one type of angle she wants to try. The Queen remains interested in having an on-screen romance storyline with a male performer.
Flair discussed the idea while speaking to Ilona Maher on Power Hour. Maher brought up Charlotte’s previous comments about wanting a romance angle and asked if anything was in the works. Charlotte could not confirm that WWE had plans for one, but she made it clear that the idea is still out there.
“I don’t know. I put it out in the universe. Let’s see if it catches something.”
Flair explained that she has never been paired with a male performer during her WWE career. Even a basic flirtatious interaction would give her something completely different to work with.
“I’ve just never been paired with a male or ever had even, like, a ‘Hey.’ So, it’d just be so fun for me.”
Maher then asked how they could make the storyline happen and joked that she was also looking for romance in her real life. Charlotte responded that she was looking for the same thing before Maher asked whether WWE could make a romance angle a condition of her joining the company.
“Me too—just like a storyline. Just like a storyline in life.”
Flair then explained why the idea appeals to her. Some of her supporters believe no man is good enough for The Queen, but Charlotte thinks a romance angle could expose a warmer and more playful side of her character.
“A couple of my fans were like, ‘Dude, there’s no one good enough for The Queen.’ And I was like, ‘That’s the greatest line.’ We’re so independent, we don’t need a male. But I just thought it’d be fun to show that, like, ‘Hey, I’m not so cold. I can be flirty.’”
Charlotte has spent most of her WWE career presented as dominant, driven and untouchable. A romance storyline would give her the chance to drop some of The Queen’s armor and show a side of herself that WWE audiences have rarely seen.
