Charlotte Flair is looking back at her rivalry with Becky Lynch in a completely different light years later, and she admits the feud transformed her as a performer inside WWE.

While speaking on TMZ’s Inside The Ring, Charlotte reflected on the massive storyline that helped launch Becky Lynch into “The Man” era while also forcing Charlotte to reevaluate how she approached her own character work. Charlotte explained that revisiting the feud for A&E’s upcoming Rivals episode brought back a lot of emotions, especially because she filmed the interviews while sidelined with an injury.

“When I did the sit-down interviews for this episode, I was actually out on injury, so I was like so depressed, so emotional. I have no idea what the episode’s going to look like or what they’re going to take from the interview, but I was in such a negative bad spot.”

Despite that, Charlotte admitted the rivalry became one of the biggest learning experiences of her career.

“What I do remember from the rivalry with Beeks is it made me the performer I am today.”

Charlotte also explained that the feud forced her to deal with a very unusual dynamic at the time, as Becky Lynch was technically the villain while fans overwhelmingly supported her.

“Because she was the bad guy getting cheered and I was the good guy getting booed.”

She admitted she struggled with the reactions instead of embracing them.

“Instead of going, ‘Why are they booing me? Why don’t they like me?’ and then changing kind of how I worked, it kind of made me insecure in the ring where I could have been like, ‘Dude, they’re booing. They’re reacting. Go with it.’”

Charlotte said she now realizes she should have leaned into the crowd response rather than trying to fight it.

“Soak all of that in instead of shying away or trying to be liked. When someone is trying to be liked, that’s when everyone’s like, ‘Oh.’”

Even with those regrets, Charlotte made it clear she believes the rivalry permanently elevated her career.

“I learned so much from that feud and I am where I am today due to what I learned from it.”

Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch helped define an era of WWE women’s wrestling, and it’s clear Charlotte now sees that rivalry as one of the most important chapters of her entire career.
