Carlito says he’s done waiting around for WWE. More than a year after his contract quietly expired, the former Judgment Day member says staying loyal to the company would now be like “being a beaten housewife,” making it clear he’s ready to move on—or walk away from wrestling altogether.
Speaking with Inside the Ropes, Carlito explained that returning to WWE already checked the final box on his wrestling bucket list. Because of that, he no longer feels like he has anything left to prove.
“Man, I can retire now, baby. So, plan is whatever it is, man. That’s all I wanted to do. That was my goal. And now… I’m playing with house money at this point. You know what I mean? Something good comes up, great.”
That freedom has completely changed the way he views his future. Instead of hoping WWE comes back around, Carlito says he’s willing to see what’s out there. And he summed up his mindset with one comparison that probably won’t go unnoticed.
“But like I said… if I was loyal to WWE, it’s just like being a beaten housewife at this point. You know what I mean? So, I’m open to whatever.”
Carlito stressed that he isn’t desperately chasing another contract. If the right opportunity comes along, he’ll take it. If not, he’s perfectly happy walking away.
“And if not, I just ride off into the sunset. Like I said, I enjoy performing for you guys, but if I’m forgotten tomorrow, right off, I’m totally okay with that.”
The comments are a far cry from where Carlito was after leaving WWE, when he openly criticized the company for letting his contract quietly expire without much communication. At the time, he said he felt veterans deserved more respect than simply being told not to come to television anymore. Now, it sounds like he’s done looking backwards. Whether his next stop is another major promotion or retirement, Carlito says he’s at peace with either outcome.
