Buddy Matthews is officially set for multiple upcoming World Series Wrestling events later this year as his comeback continues gaining momentum following a lengthy injury absence.
World Series Wrestling confirmed that Matthews will appear during its October and November tour dates across Australia and New Zealand after shocking fans with his surprise return at the company’s Rise Against event earlier this month.
Matthews had been sidelined since February 2025 after suffering a serious ankle injury during AEW Grand Slam: Australia. Although he recently appeared during WSW’s Rise Against show and got physical during an attack on Donovan Dijak, Matthews stated afterward that he still has not been fully medically cleared and expects to be ready by October.
WSW has now officially announced Matthews for the following tour dates:
- October 29th in Auckland, New Zealand
- October 30th in Brisbane, Australia
- October 31st in Adelaide, Australia
- November 1st in Melbourne, Australia
- November 2nd in Sydney, Australia
The promotion heavily pushed Matthews’ return announcement following his surprise appearance at Rise Against.
“ITS OFFICIAL … @snm_buddy shocked the wrestling world when he appeared at our #riseagainst tour. Buddy Matthews is BACK this October and November and he is coming for all of the gold!”
The upcoming appearances mark Matthews’ first scheduled shows since suffering the ankle injury more than a year ago. The recovery process became more complicated due to lingering numbness and nerve-related issues, though Matthews has recently teased major progress through training videos and in-ring workouts.
Matthews also previously shared a message reflecting on his comeback journey:
“Built in silence. Worked through the setbacks. Now the comeback speaks for itself.”
With WSW now officially advertising Matthews for five international dates, it appears his full return to wrestling action is finally getting close after one of the longest injury layoffs of his career.
