CM Punk’s AEW debut truly changed the business in a big way and fans really wanted to see him and Bryan Danielson have a program in the company. Unfortunately, it never happened as Punk was fired from AEW and now Danielson has addressed never getting to face Punk in AEW.

While speaking to Inside the Ropes, Bryan Danielson was asked if he was disappointed about never squaring off against CM Punk in AEW. He admitted that he had hoped to work with The Second City Saint in the company, but it didn’t happen. While he wasn’t sad about it, he thought it would have been enjoyable to work with Punk in a program.

”Sad isn’t the right word. It was something that I thought was going to happen, but it didn’t happen. It would have been cool and really fun for me.”

It is to be noted that The American Dragon was present backstage during the January 15th edition of AEW Dynamite. However, it’s unknown when he will make his in-ring return as he is trying to avoid undergoing neck surgery, currently keeping it as a last resort.

Bryan Danielson also revealed his current relationship with CM Punk following his AEW firing, as they have not really talked with each other since All In 2023. Nevertheless, fans will always be sad they never got to have a program together in AEW and that’s unlikely to ever change.
