Bronson Reed has already been back on WWE television throwing Tsunamis around, but there was still one thing missing from his return. That changed after RAW in Mexico City when Reed finally wrestled his first match in months.
Following the September 14 episode of RAW, Reed competed in a dark match and teamed with fellow Vision member Bron Breakker against LA Knight and Oba Femi. Knight and Femi picked up the victory after Femi pinned Breakker.
The match marked Reed’s first time actually competing since suffering the biceps injury that took him out of action in February. WWE had already brought him back into the mix at Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6, but until Mexico City, his involvement had been limited to physical angles rather than an actual match.
Reed made his presence felt immediately upon returning. He attacked Oba Femi during Femi’s match against Breakker at Sunday Night’s Main Event, putting himself right into The Vision’s growing problems with the former NXT Champion.
That continued on the following episode of RAW. The Vision overwhelmed Femi before Reed climbed to the top rope and repeatedly hit him with Tsunamis, showing that his lengthy absence hadn’t changed the role WWE had waiting for him.
There was one very noticeable difference when Reed came back, though. He returned 45 pounds lighter after using his time away to completely overhaul his conditioning. Reed said he was lifting six times per week, doing cardio and making sure he didn’t simply lose weight while recovering.
“Like, it’s not as, like, this is the harsh reality of what I did, is I didn’t just lose weight and become skinny fat like a lot of the neckbeards online that are talking about me. That’s right. I actually put in hard work and I was lifting six times a week. I’m doing my cardio. I’m doing everything I can to be the best version of myself.”
Getting physical on television was one thing, but Mexico City finally gave Reed the chance to test all of that work in an actual match. He didn’t get the victory, but he also didn’t take the fall, with Breakker eating the pin from Femi.
After seven months away from the ring, Reed now has his first match behind him. WWE has already put him back in the middle of The Vision’s business, and the final piece of his comeback is officially in place.
