Bronson Reed may be sidelined from WWE, but he is still paying close attention to what is happening around the wrestling business—and one indie wrestler has clearly crossed the line in his eyes.
The WWE star took to social media to call out an unnamed independent wrestler who allegedly uses his gimmick as an excuse to touch female fans inappropriately. Reed did not expose the wrestler by name, but he made it clear that hiding behind a character does not make the behavior acceptable.
“There’s an indie wrestler who uses his ‘gimmick’ to touch female fans inappropriately. Let’s stop this type of behavior. It’s not funny. It’s unprofessional.”
Reed kept the message simple, but there was nothing vague about his point. Wrestling characters can push limits, get under people’s skin and create uncomfortable moments, but putting hands on fans without proper boundaries is not part of the job.
The former NXT North American Champion has mostly stayed quiet while recovering from injury, outside of sharing updates about how long he has been away from the ring. This situation was serious enough for him to break that silence and demand that the behavior stop.
Reed also avoided naming the wrestler, which leaves plenty of questions about who he was referring to and what exactly happened. Still, his warning puts more attention on how performers interact with fans, especially when someone tries to excuse bad behavior by calling it part of the act.
