Britt Baker is officially getting back in the ring. During the September 5 episode of AEW Collision, AEW announced Baker’s first match since her return, and she’s being thrown straight back into the mess she started at Wembley.
Baker will team with TBS Champion Persephone and Hikaru Shida against Maya World, Hyan and Thunder Rosa in a six-woman tag team match on the September 9 Rebel Heart edition of AEW Dynamite. That puts Baker directly across the ring from Maya after she made her surprise return at AEW All In: London and cost Maya World the TBS Championship on August 30.
Baker showed up disguised under a hood, shoved Maya off the ropes, helped Persephone walk away with the title and then locked Maya in the Lockjaw before revealing herself to the Wembley Stadium crowd. Baker’s return came after nearly two years away from AEW television, and the whole thing came together fast. Her All In comeback was put together at the last minute, with Baker still at home just days before the show before making the trip to London.
AEW also announced Baker will be pulling double duty on September 9 because The Waiting Room is coming back too. Baker and Rebel will revive the old segment with Persephone and Hikaru Shida appearing as the special guests. That fits right into the Rebel Heart theme, especially considering Baker’s long history with Rebel on AEW television. Before Baker even returned at All In, she had already sent an emotional message to Rebel ahead of the tribute show.
The September 9 Rebel Heart edition of Dynamite takes place at Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia, with AEW building the night around Rebel while also pushing Baker straight back into one of the biggest women’s stories on the show.
Baker came back, helped steal a championship from Maya World and disappeared before Maya could get her hands on her. Now that wait is over, because Baker’s first match back puts Maya on the other side of the ring — and The Waiting Room is coming back on the same night.
