Brie Bella thinks Netflix might have a role waiting for the Bella Twins—and the idea came from two famous identical twins who spent years competing against each other.

Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show, Brie revealed that she recently stumbled across an old, crumpled newspaper clipping featuring Ann Landers’ “12 Rules for Raising Children.” She liked it enough to send it to the show’s producers, only to learn something she had no idea about.

“One of my producers was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is Dear Abby’s identical twin sister.’ And I’m like, we all were shocked.”

That immediately sent Brie down a rabbit hole. Ann Landers was the pen name used by Esther Lederer, while her identical twin sister Pauline Phillips became famous as Dear Abby. What really caught Brie’s attention was that the two didn’t operate like the Bella Twins at all—they became rivals in the same business.

“What makes the story even more fascinating—I mean, for someone who’s a twin, that alone just, I love it. But her and her twin were both journalists. So both wrote columns… they were rivals in their industry.”

That was pretty foreign territory for Brie. She and Nikki have certainly had their fights over the years, but she still sees them as one unit. The story fascinated Brie enough that she suddenly had an idea: she and Nikki should turn it into a movie.

“So I think of Nikki and I as a tag team, like on the same page. Do we fight? Yes. Do we disagree? Yes. But we’re a tag team. Like, we’re the Bella Twins. I was telling our producer, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, Nikki and I need to, like, produce this into a movie.’”

There was just one problem. Somebody already did it. Brie discovered the 1999 television movie Take My Advice: The Ann and Abby Story, which told the story of the famous twins. She and Nikki now plan on watching it together, but finding out the movie already existed didn’t completely kill her idea. Instead, Brie pitched Netflix on doing it again—with the Bella Twins involved this time.

“I don’t know, Netflix, I think, uh, the Bella Twins need to, um, do a revamp. Let’s redo it. Um, Ann and Abby, amazing.”

The more Brie researched Ann and Abby, the more their rivalry stood out to her. That’s where she sees the biggest difference between their story and her own relationship with Nikki.

“Nikki’s always been my support system and we’ve always wanted to strengthen each other, bring more success to each other. We’ve always been each other’s biggest cheerleaders.”

So Brie may have been about 27 years late with the original movie idea, but she’s already found another option. If Netflix ever wants a Bella Twins-led remake of The Ann and Abby Story, she’s apparently ready for the call.
