Brie Bella is dealing with another health issue while recovering from her broken scapula, and this one has actually gotten worse. Brie says recent testing showed her gut health declined significantly, with the pain sometimes becoming so severe that she drops to her knees.
Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show, Brie opened up about the issue during a conversation with Scarlett. She acknowledged that she has joked about some of her bathroom problems in the past, but made it clear there’s a much more serious problem underneath all of that.
“So on this show I’ve been very open with my gut journey and, um, it’s crazy because, you know, obviously like I’ll make jokes here and there like shitting my pants in an ambulance and all the different things. But when it comes down to it, it’s how serious the condition of my gut.”
Brie has previously undergone testing after experiencing problems with gluten and dairy. At one point, her gluten levels looked similar to someone with celiac disease, although she ultimately tested negative for the condition. The bigger concern now is the pain she experiences when something triggers her gut.
“But they pretty much told me like cross contamination, especially with gluten, I just get so ill and very like, you know, I might race to the bathroom, but it’s not as serious as like, you know, when you and I were talking, like the pain. I’ll like drop to my knees, I will be in so much pain. I mean, I feel like something’s coming outta me.”
Bella’s latest tests apparently made the situation even more concerning. Brie said her thyroid, liver and other levels looked healthy, but her gut score had gone from a seven to a 10. That result has led to the next step. Brie is now scheduled to see a specialist as she tries to figure out exactly what is causing the problem.
“They’re like, your thyroid looks amazing. They’re like, my liver looks incredible. They’re like, even like when we’re looking at all your levels are like, this is a healthy woman, but for some reason your gut was at a seven and now it’s at a 10. So now we have to go see a specialist. So I have to see a specialist next week and I’m like, what is going on with my gut?”
There’s also another possibility being considered. Brie revealed that doctors have brought up whether an autoimmune disease affecting her gut could be behind what she’s experiencing.
“Now the only thing that they brought up to me is maybe, you know, and I might have an autoimmune disease that, you know, hits the gut.
And this is what I wanted all our listeners to know. So when you’re listening to Scarlett, take out those pens and papers, write everything she’s saying down. Because if you don’t take care of your gut and it’s declining more and more—’cause look it, I am, look healthy. I look—you see me and you’re like, that’s a healthy woman, but my gut is not—that can wake up cancer, that can wake up diseases and then you’re in trouble. So that’s why I’m like so serious about getting on track.”
All of this comes while Brie is already recovering from the broken scapula she suffered at SummerSlam. She recently began physical therapy and is undergoing regular imaging to determine whether the fracture is healing properly without surgery.
Brie already had enough on her plate trying to get her shoulder healthy again. Now she’s looking for answers about a completely separate problem that has gotten worse despite the rest of her tests looking healthy.
