Brie Bella knows having money and success doesn’t suddenly make life’s problems disappear, and she’s tired of people acting like it does. The WWE Hall of Famer says she’s seen people dismiss someone’s struggles simply because they look at their bank account and decide they shouldn’t have anything to complain about.

The topic came up during The Nikki & Brie Show while Nikki and Brie Bella were speaking with Victoria Arlen about success and the pressure that can come with it. Brie immediately related to the idea, especially when it comes to the reactions she sees on social media.

“Because I think sometimes, you know, you’ll see on social media, people are like, ‘Oh, what do you know? You’re rich.’ And I’m like, it wasn’t about that. I’m telling you, I can also have my things. And it doesn’t matter.”

For Brie, money doesn’t cancel out whatever somebody might be dealing with personally. She said people can still have their own problems regardless of how successful their life might look from the outside.

The conversation then shifted into something a little darker. Brie recalled a discussion she and Nikki had with someone just the day before about how reaching a certain level of success can completely change the way other people treat you.

“It’s so true. I’m so happy you put that in your book. I am too. Because that’s very true. We were just talking to someone about that yesterday, about that, like, where people, you get to a certain level of success, and they don’t—they feel like they could throw negativity at you. They feel like they can turn their back on you.”

Brie said that conversation also included a warning about the people who stay close to you. According to her, they were told things can become particularly scary when someone around you doesn’t simply admire what you’ve accomplished but actually wants the life you have.

“And he had said, like, one of the scariest things are when you have people that are around you that want to be you or your life. He goes, ‘And that’s when it gets really scary.’ Then you just really realize how alone you are. That’s so true.”

Brie’s comments show that her experience with success hasn’t just been about dealing with random criticism online. She’s also become more aware of how money and recognition can change relationships, especially when jealousy starts creeping into the picture.
