Brian Cage is finally back in AEW after months away recovering from major knee surgery.
During the May 13 episode of AEW Dynamite, Cage made his surprise return by answering Kevin Knight’s open challenge for the TBS Championship. The return immediately got attention because Cage had previously revealed just how brutal his rehab process had become following his third knee surgery.
Earlier this year, Cage admitted recovery had been “some of the most painful rehab” of his entire career and revealed there were setbacks involving new pain and irritation in his knee. Now, despite all of that, “The Machine” is back on AEW television.
During the broadcast, Renee Paquette specifically pointed out that Cage was returning after being sidelined for months while the announcers heavily put him over during his comeback appearance. As of now, the match against Kevin Knight is still ongoing.
Cage had previously avoided giving fans an exact timetable for his return because of all the complications surrounding his rehab, which made the surprise Dynamite comeback feel even bigger.
At this point, fans are now waiting to see whether Cage’s return ends with championship gold immediately or simply marks the beginning of his comeback run.
