Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas spent years wanting to work together in WWE, and it sounds like they were finally about to get their shot before Windham Rotunda’s death changed everything.
During a discussion on Matt Hardy’s podcast, the conversation turned to Bray’s relationship with his brother Taylor Rotunda, better known to fans as Bo Dallas. Hardy said Windham had brought up the idea of doing something with his brother more than once while they were working together.
“There were so many times where, when we’d worked together, he talked about doing stuff with his brother at some point.”
This wasn’t just some dream sitting on the shelf either. Hardy said Bray and Bo were actually heading toward working together in a program.
“And it’s very heartbreaking that I know they were going to get that opportunity to have Bray—to have Windham working with Bo. You know, him and Taylor were going to actually work together in a program and do stuff.”
That makes the whole thing hit even harder because, according to Hardy, the brothers had been waiting for that opportunity for years.
“And I know they’d wanted to do that for the longest time. So, that’s very sad when I think that that didn’t materialize like it was going to be.”
Hardy also made it clear that Windham and Taylor weren’t just brothers on paper. They were incredibly close, and Hardy said he feels for Bo knowing how strong that bond was.
“And I feel so bad for him, Taylor. I mean, because they were really close. They were great brothers. And having a brother, I know how strong that brotherly bond is. And I really hate that for Taylor.”
When asked whether Bray and Bo had openly wanted to work together for a long time, Hardy didn’t hesitate.
“Yeah. Yeah. They definitely wanted to do something.”
The two did get a small taste of it when Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel’s B-Team crossed paths with Bray Wyatt and Hardy’s Deleters of Worlds in WWE. Hardy said both brothers enjoyed finally getting the chance to work together inside the ring.
“I remember when we had that small run, B-Team versus the Deleters of Worlds. They enjoyed that. I mean, that was fun that we were in there working together. You know, the two brothers were getting the opportunity to work together.”
Hardy knows that feeling better than most after spending decades working with his own brother, Jeff Hardy. He explained that while brothers may dream about teaming together, there’s also something special about getting the chance to stand across the ring from each other on a major stage.
“Because it is one of those things, like, you know, as much as I think brothers might want to be a tag team and do their thing, there is a part of you—and I can say this from experience, speaking from experience—that you do also have dreams of, like, wrestling with your brother, you know, on the big show, on the big dance, and having fun with it.”
Bray and Bo never got the full-blown program they had apparently been waiting years for, and that makes this one sting. They got a brief taste of sharing the ring, but if Hardy is right, something much bigger was finally starting to line up before Windham’s death took that chance away for good.
