Asuka’s WWE future remains unclear following her emotional farewell moments after Backlash, and now Blake Monroe is speaking openly about how much “The Empress of Tomorrow” means to her.

During a recent interview with Vicente Beltran, Monroe discussed the growing uncertainty surrounding Asuka’s WWE status and admitted she still hopes to wrestle her someday despite reports suggesting Asuka may be stepping away from wrestling for the foreseeable future.

Monroe praised Asuka as one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world and reflected on watching her rise through WWE during some of the biggest moments of her career.

“Asuka to me is one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world.”

She specifically pointed to Asuka’s Royal Rumble win and her match against Charlotte Flair as moments that showed just how special she was inside the ring.

“I remember watching her after she won the Rumble wrestling Charlotte Flair and thinking, wow, like she’s something special.”

Monroe also credited Asuka with elevating both the NXT women’s division and WWE’s main roster throughout her run with the company.

Even with uncertainty surrounding Asuka’s future, Monroe admitted she still hopes the two can eventually share a ring one day.

“I would love to wrestle her one day.”

At the same time, Monroe acknowledged how emotional the situation has become for fans if Asuka is truly stepping away from WWE competition.

“So for me, I’m kind of heartbroken if this is it, but I also respect her and what a career she’s had.”

The comments come after Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE sources are currently describing Asuka internally as “semi-retired” while she returns to Japan to deal with family matters.

The speculation intensified after Asuka shared emotional moments with Iyo Sky following their WWE Backlash match and later during RAW, where the two embraced backstage before Asuka left the arena.

While there still appears to be uncertainty internally regarding what happens next, Monroe’s comments show just how respected Asuka remains among WWE talent and fans alike.
