Enzo Amore might be making his way back to WWE, but it turns out he was also exploring opportunities with AEW before his latest return rumors picked up steam.

According to Fightful Select, Amore had tested the waters with AEW earlier this year. The outlet spoke with sources within the company who confirmed that the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion had explored the possibility of working with the promotion.vIt was specifically noted that Amore’s interest wasn’t limited to WWE, revealing that AEW had also been part of the conversation.

“Fightful spoke to AEW sources earlier this year that noted Enzo had tested the waters there as well.”

There’s no indication that Amore ever received a formal offer from AEW or that negotiations progressed to the point of a potential contract. However, the revelation confirms that he had at least explored another major wrestling destination before the latest developments involving WWE.

The update comes after it was revealed that several people within WWE believe Amore recently signed a contract with the company. While that information hasn’t been officially confirmed, there’s now another detail connecting him to a possible comeback.

It was also noted that Amore and TNA wrestler Joe Alonzo were both visiting the WWE Performance Center for NXT on November 4. Their presence doesn’t necessarily mean either performer has signed a deal, but it adds to the ongoing questions about Amore’s future.

Amore has been connected to WWE return discussions for months, particularly after his former tag team partner Big Cass returned to the company earlier this year. The two were one of WWE’s most recognizable tag teams during their original run, but Cass made his comeback without Amore.

Cass has since established himself on Monday Night RAW as a heel alongside Ethan Page. The two recently teamed up to defeat Chad Gable and Dragon Lee on the October 26 episode, making an immediate reunion with Amore far from certain.
