Billie Starkz got a major test when she stepped into the ring with Mercedes Moné, and she walked away from that match with more than just another big-name opponent on her résumé.
During her appearance on Hitting The Turnbuckle, Starkz looked back on her TBS Championship match against Moné and explained that every new opponent gives her something different to take away.
“Honestly, I think wrestling any new opponent has given me a new learning experience.”
That was especially true with Mercedes Moné, because Starkz recognized how much experience Moné brings to the ring. Moné has been around major stages for years, and Starkz said there was plenty she could pick up from being in there with someone who has stacked up championship wins.
“Especially where she has came from. She’s given me so much more knowledge and having done wrestling for as long as she has in the ring that she just went on winning championship after championship, there’s definitely something I can learn from watching her.”
Starkz also made it clear that facing Moné was not easy, but that is exactly the kind of situation she wants. She called the match a challenge, while also saying she is ready for anything thrown her way.
“Being in the ring with her, it was a challenge, but I’m up for any challenge of the week.”
That kind of attitude is why Starkz continues to stand out in AEW and ROH. She is still young, but she has already been in the ring with some serious names, and she is treating each match as another chance to sharpen her game.
Mercedes Moné gave Billie Starkz a tough test, but Starkz clearly sees matches like that as part of her growth. With more opportunities in AEW and ROH, Starkz could use those lessons to keep climbing the ladder.
