Nikki Bella and Brie Bella are openly pushing for the return of both Total Divas and Total Bellas — and Nikki made it sound like WWE could already know exactly how interested they are.
While speaking on the Battleground podcast, the Bella Twins explained that they’ve spent years trying to get the reality series revived because they believe the current women’s division has the perfect mix of personalities, drama, and star power to carry it again. Nikki said the original shows gave WWE women a huge platform beyond wrestling matches and allowed fans to connect with them on a much deeper level.
“Well, we’ve had conversations about it for years—about bringing it back. And we’ve always pushed hard for that because it really helped the women not only showcase what they can do in and out of the ring, but it gave our voices such a big platform.”
She then pointed toward the current women’s roster and said now feels like the perfect time for the franchise to return. Nikki even hinted she would absolutely be interested if WWE approached them about bringing the shows back.
“So I feel like now, with what the women are doing, Total Divas—it’s a perfect time for it to come back and showcase what these women are doing, how they’re delivering. If they were to call—I mean, we are back right now, so you know it might be a yes.”
The conversation then shifted toward how the reality format differs from WWE Unreal, with Nikki explaining that Total Divas and Total Bellas had a completely different energy.
“We’ve talked about this, and I’ll be honest—I pushed hard for both Total Divas and Total Bellas to come back, because I do feel like they’re different shows than WWE Unreal.”
According to Nikki, the old reality shows worked because they captured genuine friendships, competition, and backstage drama naturally instead of presenting things strictly like documentaries: “We’re more docu-follow, more docu-soap, and they’re more documentary-based—they’re just different.” She continued by saying WWE’s current women’s locker room already has enough chemistry and chaos to fuel compelling television without forcing storylines.
“And I do feel like, because the girls—there are different groups and they all have fun—and it’s competitive, and there is drama. So we wouldn’t even have to write that—it just happens.”
Brie Bella then explained that the original shows helped fans emotionally invest in WWE talent beyond the ring. She added that fans appreciated WWE performers more after seeing what they dealt with outside the limelight.
“It was so great too for fans to connect with us in our personal lives and know our backstories.“And then when they saw us go out to the ring, I felt like they appreciated more—knowing the hard times we were going through and how we pulled it together to walk through Gorilla and get to that ring.”
Nikki later pitched an updated version of the concept involving both current WWE stars and returning veterans from the original Total Divas era.
“Total Divas should be more about the new talent, and then obviously you need some OGs there—but Total Bellas with the OGs would be really cool, because our fanbase is still so strong.”
She specifically mentioned names like Naomi, Natalya, Eva Marie, Saraya, Nia Jax, and Ariane Andrew as examples of personalities fans are still invested in years later. Nikki also admitted she would absolutely watch the personal drama unfold herself
“But to see the evolution of the OGs—like Trinity Fatu, Natalya Neidhart, even Eva Marie, Paige, Nia Jax—when we were all chatting, we’d send each other photos that pop up on our phones. I’m like, ‘How is this 14 years ago?’ I was like, Paige bringing tea time in London—that was 14 years ago.
So I think it would be really great because we still have that reality fanbase. And it would be cool for them to see how many of us have become moms and entrepreneurs and are doing so many different things—but also making returns.
I mean, think of Naomi—before she got pregnant, she was doing so many incredible things. And now you can see her being a mom. Can you imagine that inside look? And then I think it’s kind of cool what Ariane Andrew is doing in her own way with wrestling and how she’s evolved.
There’s a lot there. And people were really connected and invested in those OGs. And I think, you know, Eva getting divorced—I want to know the tea there. I want to watch. So I think—I’ve been there. It’s like a mix of old and new.”
Bottom line: Nikki and Brie Bella are openly campaigning for Total Divas and Total Bellas to return, believing WWE’s current women’s division — mixed with returning veterans — has everything needed to revive the reality franchise successfully.
