WrestleMania 42 took over Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fans paid a lot to be in the building, and they saw WWE’s biggest show of the year first-hand.
AJ Lee vs Becky Lynch went down for the Intercontinental Title. With Lee skipping in as reigning champion, The Man was determined to beat her daughter’s favorite wrestler at the Showcase of the Immortals.
Becky Lynch had The Wonder Years play her entrance live and AJ Lee was led to the ring like the Pied Piper with an army of mini skipping AJ Lees, complete with IC Title belts, behind her.
The match got started, with Jessika Carr as the referee, and they brought attention to the official during the match. Becky Lynch gained control early on, and AJ Lee sold like crazy. Then Becky took off the top turnbuckle pad, but Carr put it back on as she called Lynch “insane.”
The match kept going with AJ Lee gaining the upperhand. This led her to a missile dropkick off the top rope for a near fall. Then Lynch took control, and she stomped AJ Lee down in the corner until Jessika Carr had to pull her off. Becky Lynch got in Carr’s face, and this resulted in a shoving match. Then Lee nailed a Manhandle Slam and got a near fall.
After they traded some shots, AJ Lee latched on a Black Widow, but Becky got out of it. Then she removed the top turnbuckle pad, and she pulled Carr in front of her as a human shield. That let Lynch nail AJ Lee’s head against the turnbuckle and then she nailed her finisher to win the title for a third time.
This was AJ Lee’s first WrestleMania in eleven years, and that was quite a historic moment. Her return to the fold has been widely documented, and it played into this storyline in a big way. She was also the first woman to defend the Women’s IC Championship at WrestleMania. Now they have made even more history with The Man’s win.
