Becky Lynch is officially an American citizen, but when somebody tried tying Donald Trump to that decision, “The Man” shut it down immediately. Lynch explained that becoming a U.S. citizen was much more about her family with Seth Rollins and not having to worry about her green card anymore — while making it crystal clear she hasn’t turned her back on Ireland.
The subject came up during Lynch’s appearance on the Boy Talk Talk Show, when the hosts brought up the fact that she became an American citizen in March 2024. Then came the question that caught her off guard: was Trump the reason? Becky wasted absolutely no time killing that idea.
“No. No. Uh, no. Um—”
One of the hosts immediately joked that maybe she simply loved America that much, but Lynch finally explained what actually pushed her toward citizenship. Her answer was far less dramatic — she’s married to Seth Rollins, their daughter Roux is American, and citizenship meant she no longer had to deal with the uncertainty surrounding her green card.
“You know, like I don’t have to worry about my green card or whatever ’cause I’m married to an American. I have an American daughter.”
That family connection has been a huge part of Lynch’s life away from WWE. She and Rollins welcomed Roux in December 2020 before getting married in June 2021, and the couple recently celebrated five years of marriage with Becky calling them her “favorite 5 years.”
Ringside News has also covered how much motherhood has changed Lynch’s life, including her recent admission that another child with Rollins could still be in their future. Lynch said “maybe one more” while discussing whether Roux could eventually get a younger sibling.
Back on Boy Talk, the hosts joked that Becky had essentially traded Ireland’s green and orange for America’s red, white and blue. Lynch wasn’t letting that one slide either. She quickly reminded them that getting American citizenship didn’t mean surrendering her Irish citizenship — or her pride in where she came from.
“Well, I—I still have the—I still have the Irish citizenship. Very proud Irish.”
So no, Becky Lynch didn’t suddenly become American because of Donald Trump, and she definitely didn’t toss Ireland aside in the process. For Lynch, the move was about making life easier with her American husband and daughter while still keeping one foot firmly planted back home. She may have two passports now, but there was zero hesitation when it came time to remind everyone that she’s still “very proud Irish.”
