Becky Lynch walked into WWE knowing she was suddenly going to be surrounded by some of the biggest names she had ever watched, but one wrestler stood near the top of her personal list. It wasn’t Triple H, Mick Foley or even Lita — it was Benjamin Satterley.
Lynch looked back on meeting the man WWE fans knew as Neville during WWE’s tribute video honoring PAC. She explained that she had already followed his career closely before they ever crossed paths in NXT.
“One of the people I was the most excited to see and to meet was Ben, because I was such a fan of what he did, his work on the Indies, his matches against Finn, New Japan. He’s incredible. He was unbelievable.”
Meeting him didn’t disappoint either. Lynch said the person behind the unbelievable athletic ability couldn’t have been further removed from the ego people might expect from somebody that talented.
“He was just the most down to earth person you’ve ever met in your entire life.”
For Lynch, that authenticity stood out in an industry where performers are constantly encouraged to become bigger personalities.
“He was the most genuine human you could ever meet. He didn’t have to try to be anything because he just was.”
Satterley’s death at only 40 years old was announced by AEW on September 27. WWE has continued honoring its former NXT Champion, including a memorial graphic at the beginning of RAW. Lynch also spoke about the relationship between PAC and his wife Natalie, saying their connection made a lasting impression on her.
“His love for Natalie, his wife, was like the stuff of fairy tales. Like, this man was so dedicated, so, so loyal.”
At a difficult point in her own life, Lynch said watching the two of them together actually showed her the kind of relationship she wanted for herself.
“I was like, oh, that’s. Wow, that is amazing. That’s what I want one day. I want something like that because they were just so amazing together.”
PAC could do things in a wrestling ring that almost nobody else could touch, but Lynch’s memories had very little to do with moves. To her, the lasting impression was a world-class performer who somehow remained completely grounded while loving his family harder than he loved the spotlight.
