Becky Lynch was asked one of wrestling’s most familiar questions, but her answer was anything but familiar. Instead of going anywhere near the usual collection of Steve Austin, The Rock, Hulk Hogan or Shawn Michaels, she came up with a Mount Rushmore that probably belongs entirely to her.
While speaking on the Boy Talk Talk Show, Lynch was asked to name the four people who would make up her personal wrestling Mount Rushmore. She immediately used half of the available space on The Bodydonnas before giving another spot to Jimmy Hart.
“Um, for me, it’s probably The Bodydonnas. Uh, that’s two. And then the third would probably be Jimmy Hart, Mouth of the South.”
With only one spot remaining, Lynch completed the lineup with another unexpected choice: “And then four, maybe Shelton Benjamin.” The hosts were amused by the Benjamin selection, with one focusing on his looks before another jumped in to praise his speed and famous athleticism. Lynch simply agreed with their assessment: “Yeah. Yeah.”
The conversation then moved from Lynch choosing her own Mount Rushmore to one of the hosts putting her on his. The category was extremely specific: beautiful Irish female wrestlers who dropped out of college. Lynch quickly realized she probably didn’t have much competition for that particular honor.
“Thank you. That, yes, I think I’m the only one.”
The Bodydonnas taking up two spots, Jimmy Hart getting another and Shelton Benjamin completing the mountain certainly isn’t the standard answer to wrestling’s Mount Rushmore debate. Given the deliberately strange tone of the interview, Lynch appeared more interested in having fun with the question than rolling out the same four legends everyone has heard before.
