Big Vito’s WrestleCon run-in with the Bad Ass Construction Worker is still following him around, but Big Oja has a very different memory of what happened. As far as he’s concerned, nobody “punked” him. He just remembers a bald wrestler trying to kiss him without even buying him a cheeseburger first.
The latest shot came on Instagram after someone left a comment asking Oja, “Remember when Vito punked you?” Rather than argue about the physical part of the viral clip again, Oja turned the entire thing into another roast.
“No, I don’t remember that. All I remember is a bald wrestler trying to kiss me at a wrestling convention without buying me a cheeseburger.”
Oja wasn’t finished there. He brought BJ Ray into the situation and suggested things might have gone differently if Ray had been standing beside him when the WrestleCon incident happened.
“Yeah, I wish he would’ve tried that when BJ Ray was there. So anybody who’s got a problem with me can answer to fucking BJ Ray. Best wrestler in the fucking world.”
The response comes after Oja already gave his side of the WrestleCon story on the Cody HiZe Podcast. He said his original issues with Vito started when he was making videos about Brock Lesnar and saw Vito putting himself forward as a potential WrestleMania opponent. That gave Oja enough material to make one of his usual trash-talking videos, where he went after Vito, Insane Clown Posse and Juggalos. Oja maintains that the entire thing was obvious satire and never intended to become a legitimate personal problem.
“Veto wasn’t one of them. It was like I had been sh*t-talking the Bronk Legsnar and their stuff. Um, what’s it called? I was sorry. I was reading the comments. Um, yeah, I was doing like the Brock Lesnar stuff and then I saw Vito like challenge like felt like he should be the Wrestlemania opponent to like him and I like kind of laughed because I’m like obviously like people would rather see me wrestle Brock Lesnar than Vito.
“So I did a a video and I think I like dogged him, the Insane Clown Possie and the Juggalos in general. The ICP, like everybody in one video and like I didn’t think it would like get to people like to me. It’s obvious satire.”
Things eventually spilled into WrestleCon when the two met face-to-face. Oja says he approached Vito, introduced himself and explained that his online comments were rage-bait rather than a real invitation to fight. According to Oja, Vito initially understood and even said he was glad there wasn’t going to be a fight. Things changed once a camera came out, leading to the awkward physical exchange that eventually went viral.
Oja has repeatedly rejected the idea that Vito legitimately beat him up that day. He says he wasn’t fighting back because he thought they were creating a quick wrestling-style moment, only for Vito to later present it as though he had actually handled him.
“And he’s like oh cool. I’m glad you’re not here to fight. And you know, like I said on my buddy’s podcast. He turned around to Russo, Vince Russo, that’s the Bad Ass Construction Worker. So they knew who I was and he’s like, ‘Oh man, come over my table. I’m gonna set up a camera.’ So then that all that stupid. It wasn’t planned. It was like a quick I thought it was going to be sh*t talk or whatever. So that’s why it looks so awkward. And I’m not like swinging or anything, but like he’s he’s kayfabing it like he beat my ass, which he didn’t.”
The clip eventually racked up millions of views, and Oja’s biggest complaint was actually that Vito didn’t do more with the attention. He believed Vito had a perfect opportunity to keep the story going and turn the viral moment into something bigger.
Months later, fans apparently still aren’t letting Oja forget it either. Mention Vito “punking” him and the Bad Ass Construction Worker now has his answer ready: no beating, no cheeseburger and apparently no kissing without dinner first.
