Austin Theory says bringing Maxxine Dupri into The Vision wasn’t about adding another member to the group—it was about giving someone he believed had been overlooked a fresh start.

Speaking with KRON4, Theory explained that he saw a lot of himself in Maxxine’s situation. He said both of them reached a point where they felt their hard work wasn’t paying off, and that was what convinced him she belonged in The Vision.

“I saw the path that she was on and kind of similar to me, you know, like back when I had the tag team titles and we lost those and I kind of was just on this journey trying to figure out what was next for me and same thing for her. It’s like you put in all this work and people aren’t seeing it, it’s not paying off and then it’s almost like you just got to take things into your own hands.”

Theory said joining The Vision changed the direction of his own career, and he believed Maxxine needed to make the same decision because she wasn’t being treated the way she deserved.

“I think for me, I did that and that’s how I got with The Vision. And then I saw Maxine and I just seen how she was being misused and not being respected the way she should be and the things that she wants to achieve, she can certainly have them. But the one thing she was missing was The Pressure, Austin Theory. So here we are now. Now it’s pressure to the max.”

Theory was also asked whether The Vision could face Alpha Academy at SummerSlam, but instead of looking that far ahead, he argued Monday’s Raw could settle things before SummerSlam even arrives.

“I don’t see the Alpha Academy versus The Vision at SummerSlam because this Monday on Raw coming up, we’re going to face the Alpha Academy… If they’re confident enough and not beat up enough to step in the ring with us this Monday, there ain’t no SummerSlam for them. That is SummerSlam and they will get slammed.”

He then used the question to reinforce why he believes recruiting Maxxine was the right move, saying she has already left Alpha Academy behind.

“Maxine’s not your sister anymore or she’s not your weird little crush you have, Otis. She’s mine now. And I took your girl.”

Theory’s comments come after Maxxine turned on Alpha Academy, helped The Vision win the WWE World Tag Team Championships and kissed him in the middle of the ring. Now he’s making it clear that he doesn’t see her return as temporary. As far as Theory is concerned, Maxxine has moved on—and Alpha Academy needs to accept it.
