Austin Gunn has entered the rap game—and he immediately told nearly every other wrestler to get the hell out. The AEW star dropped a four-minute track called “Ass Boy Freestyle,” threw wrestling references all over it and finished by telling his peers their music careers are dead on arrival.
Gunn released the track on social media, and he didn’t waste time leaning into the nickname that has followed him and Colten Gunn for years. The song opens with The Hurt Syndicate referring to them as “a couple of Ass Boys,” but Austin took the insult and claimed it for himself.
“You know what? You’re goddamn right we are. And if you’re not down with that, we got two words for you.”
Once the beat kicked in, Gunn bounced between women, partying and life on the road while stuffing the track with wrestling bars. Eddie Guerrero’s famous motto made the cut first.
“Sometimes I feel like I’m Eddie Guerrero, and I say, ‘I lie, I cheat, I steal.’”
Daniel Garcia caught a mention when Gunn started talking about hitting the dance floor. Gunn then dragged Kenny Omega into the freestyle with a bar built around the V-Trigger.
“When Daniel Garcia starts moving his hips, that boy is locked in.”
“Sneaking around like a thief in the night ’cause I’ve got a vendetta like Kenny Omega when he’s got a V in the chamber.”
Then came the kill shot. Gunn closed the track by burying every wrestler who thinks stepping into a recording booth makes them a musician. He didn’t name anyone, but the message was aimed at the entire locker room.
“I’m on a heater, so listen. I can’t walk away from the table, so do me a favor: tell every wrestler that’s trying to do music they’re better off being a sports entertainer.”
That wasn’t advice. That was Gunn planting his flag, slamming the studio door behind him and telling every wrestler with a rap side project that they should have stayed in the ring. Gunn turned the “Ass Boy” chant into his own track and ended it by roasting the competition. Now every wrestler making music gets to decide whether to ignore the line or fire something back.
