WWE ID just lost another name, and the departures are starting to pile up. The developmental program has seen multiple talents move on in recent months, and now another wrestler from the original wave is officially out and already throwing himself straight back into the independent scene.

Marcus Mathers announced that his time with WWE ID has come to an end after being part of the program since its early days. He was one of the original talents announced for WWE ID in October 2024, but he made it clear he’s not treating the exit like some devastating setback. Mathers thanked WWE for the opportunity and said the experience gave him plenty to take into whatever comes next.

“As of this week, my time with WWEID has come to an end. What an incredible two years it’s been. I’ve learned so much, gained invaluable knowledge and made friendships and memories that I’ll always cherish. I want to thank WWE for their time! Time is the most valuable thing any of us can give.”

Then he made it pretty obvious that he’s not planning on disappearing. Mathers said he immediately went right back to training and already has more work lined up. Mathers also put the rest of the wrestling world on notice by saying he’s taking control of whatever comes next.

“So when this chapter closed, I did what I know how to do, I kept moving. I rolled up to The Dungeon and trained with some of the hungriest people in the world. Today I got Amazing Red, Tomorrow Nick Gage, match Sunday and match Monday.”

“Now my next chapter awaits and it’s up to me and my hunger to take me there. I’m in the drivers seat. I’m going to show up EVERYWHERE to fight ANYONE.”

His exit comes right after another WWE ID departure. Laynie Luck also left the program this week after spending 320 days as WWE ID Women’s Champion, and her exit caught some people inside WWE by surprise.

That’s not the only turnover WWE ID has seen either. Veronica Haven announced her departure from the program earlier this year, and after continuing to work WWE EVOLVE as Veronica West, she confirmed her October 7 match was her final appearance for the brand.

Mathers was still working around WWE right up until the end. He appeared on WWE EVOLVE and wrestled Conan Lycan in a dark match before the October 6 episode of NXT. One day later, AJ Styles revealed that Lycan had signed a WWE ID contract, showing that WWE is still bringing new names into the program even as others head out.

So the WWE ID door is swinging both ways right now. New talent is coming in, familiar names are leaving, and Mathers is the latest one hitting the open road with something to prove. If his message is any indication, he’s not interested in quietly fading away after WWE — he wants fights, dates and as many eyes on him as possible.
