TNA Wrestling could be losing another familiar face before the end of the year, as former TNA World Champion Rich Swann is approaching free agency. With his current contract running out, questions are starting to surface about whether he’ll remain with the company or look for opportunities elsewhere.

According to Fightful Select, Swann’s TNA contract is set to expire on December 31, 2026, which would make the 35-year-old wrestler a free agent heading into the new year. Swann signed a short-term deal earlier this year after returning to the company during the summer of 2025.

Swann is no stranger to TNA, having worked multiple stints with the promotion throughout his career. His most successful run saw him capture the TNA World Championship, establishing himself as one of the company’s top performers. He’s also remained active in the championship picture throughout 2026. Swann has competed for the TNA International Championship, TNA World Championship, and X-Division Championship, showing that he’s continued to play a role in the company’s programming despite being on a short-term agreement.

Before making his mark in TNA, Swann spent time in WWE, where he captured the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. His experience across both promotions gives him plenty of options should he decide to test the market once his current deal expires.

However, there’s one major question that hasn’t been answered yet. As things stand, there’s no confirmation that Swann and TNA have discussed a new contract. That doesn’t necessarily mean negotiations won’t happen, but there is currently no indication that an extension has been worked out.

Swann’s contract situation comes at a time when several TNA talents are approaching the end of their existing deals, making the promotion’s roster something to keep an eye on heading into 2027.

For now, Swann remains under contract with TNA through December 31, and his future beyond that date is uncertain. Whether the former World Champion signs another deal or decides to explore free agency could become one of the company’s more interesting roster developments before the year is over.

Do you think Rich Swann should sign a new contract with TNA Wrestling, or would you rather see him return to WWE or join AEW? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
