Andrade apparently won’t be disappearing from AEW television for long after all. Despite revealing a nasty injury following Grand Slam Mexico, he’s expected back next week to keep his feud with MJF moving.
According to Fightful Select on August 11, Andrade already had a scheduled week off and is currently expected to return next week to continue his angle with MJF.
That’s a considerably better update than things looked just a couple of days ago. Andrade had fans worried on August 9 when he posted a graphic photo showing medical personnel treating a bloody wound on his head. He revealed that he hadn’t been feeling right since AEW Grand Slam Mexico but still pushed through two scheduled MLP appearances in Canada before returning home to Miami and heading straight to a doctor.
“Hi everyone and especially Las Señoritas! I’ve just landed back in Miami, where I live, and I went straight to the DR. I hadn’t been feeling well since the Wednesday after the Grand Slam, but as a professional, I had two shows in Canada with MLP.”
The timing immediately raised questions about his AEW plans because Andrade had just been positioned for something bigger. At Grand Slam Mexico on August 5, he defeated Tommaso Ciampa and Komander in a three-way match to secure the No. 1 entry spot in the Casino Gauntlet at All In London.
Then MJF came looking for him. MJF attacked Andrade after the match, using his custom AEW World Championship and Dynamite Diamond Ring before sending him crashing off the entrance ramp and into Komander. Andrade was checked by medical personnel afterwards.
There was initially no clear timetable for how long Andrade could be sidelined, but this latest update makes the situation look much less ominous. His week away was reportedly already scheduled, and AEW apparently isn’t abandoning what it started with MJF.
So that bloody photo may have looked scary, but Andrade’s push isn’t being put on ice. If everything stays on track, he’s back next week—and MJF is still waiting for him.
