Andrade is treating his second AEW run like something he has to earn every single week. The National Champion says Tony Khan giving him another opportunity means enough that he feels he owes him something back, and he plans on paying that debt with what he does inside the ring.

During an appearance on Close Up with Renee Paquette, Andrade opened up about getting another opportunity in AEW and explained why he is approaching this run differently. For Andrade, coming back was about proving exactly who he is now.

“Now is the moment to show who I am.”

Andrade then explained that he feels a responsibility to Tony Khan for giving him another shot with the company. He quickly clarified that when he talks about “paying” Khan back, he is talking about his work and what he delivers in the ring.

“I need to pay to Tony, no, like pay with my work in the ring. This is why I want to defend this title. This is why I am here.”

That mindset has become a major part of his National Championship run. Andrade has made it clear that he wants to defend the title regularly, and AEW has leaned into that idea by continuing to put the championship on the line. AEW even added another National Championship match to Dynamite as Andrade continued pushing the idea that he wants to be a fighting champion.

Andrade also made it clear that his goals go beyond simply keeping gold around his waist. He wants to help people in the locker room, stay close with the rest of the roster and represent AEW the right way.

“I am here to help the company. They want the best for this company. They want the best for me. I want to represent this company very well.”

That says a lot about how Andrade is viewing this second run. He is not just back to collect a paycheck or hold a belt. He wants to prove Tony Khan made the right call bringing him back and make himself valuable to AEW from top to bottom.

Andrade may call it “paying” Tony Khan back, but the message is pretty simple. He wants his work to speak for him, and he is determined to squeeze everything he can out of this second chance.
