WWE made another round of post-WrestleMania cuts, something the company tends to do this time of year. This one included some notable names.
Among those reportedly released were members of the Wyatt Sicks faction, along with Kairi Sane, Alba Fyre and more. The wave of departures caught everyone’s attention in a big way, as the company fired a handful of people on a Friday.
One of the biggest names in the group was Aleister Black. According to Fightful, Black was believed to have departed WWE despite being regularly featured throughout 2026. His most recent match took place on the April 17 episode of SmackDown, where he competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Sadly, he lost that over-the-top-rope match.
Aleister Black started the year feuding with Damian Priest, then moved into a program with Randy Orton. He was never really focused on, but his matches consistently delivered.
After signing in 2016, he made a strong impact in NXT and went on to win the NXT Championship. He was released in June 2021, and he later joined AEW. He stayed there until February 2025 before returning to WWE following WrestleMania 41.
We will have to see what is next for Aleister Black. He certainly made a big statement during his time in WWE. Sadly, his time is over for now.
