Kay Lee Ray is back in the ring. The former Alba Fyre made an unannounced return on Friday for Pro Wrestling Eve in London. It was her first match since being released by WWE earlier this year.
The return happened after Molly Spartan issued an open challenge. At first, fans got a fake-out when Abi Cartwright came out as “Abi Fyre” to answer the challenge. Then the real surprise hit when Kay Lee Ray made her way out.
KLR went on to win the match after hitting a Swanton, making her return a successful one. The commentary team made it clear how big the moment was for Pro Wrestling Eve. KLR is a former Eve Champion, and they put over her history with the promotion during her entrance. They then made it clear that KLR’s return meant a lot to the company.
“Anyone who is anyone in women’s professional wrestling has stepped through those ropes.”
“Legends, pioneers, women in the beginning of their careers, women making a name for themselves, nobody has ever personified Pro Wrestling Eve more than Kay Lee F**ing Ray — and she is back home.”*
Will Ospreay, who works behind the scenes with Eve, also shared video of the crowd reaction to her entrance.
Kay Lee Ray was released by WWE on April 24 as part of the company’s post-WrestleMania roster cuts. During her WWE run, she competed as Alba Fyre and was featured on NXT UK, NXT, and the main roster. She also held the NXT UK Women’s Championship for nearly two years and later became WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Isla Dawn.
Before her release, Fyre had been aligned with Chelsea Green on SmackDown as part of Green’s “Secret Hervice.” Now she is back as Kay Lee Ray, and her first post-WWE match already gave fans a major surprise.
