Alba Fyre still feels bad about one locker room joke that did not go the way she planned.
During a conversation with the Daily Star after her return at EVE, Fyre was asked about wrestling ribs, and she immediately brought up a prank involving Tegan Nox that spiraled way past what she intended. When asked if she had ever pulled any good ribs or had any played on her, Fyre admitted there were a couple. Before even getting into the story, she made it clear that this one still makes her feel terrible.
“Maybe one or two.”
Then she immediately apologized to Tegan, which pretty much said everything about where the story was heading. Fyre explained that the rib happened a few years ago on a day when Tegan had a match. The locker room was packed with everyone’s bags, things were scattered everywhere, and one of Tegan’s shoes had fallen out of her bag.
“Tegan, I’m so sorry. Tegan, I’m so, so sorry. There was a match that Tegan had a few years ago and she knows this now. But, there’s bags everywhere. Everyone’s bags explode and her shoe had fallen out of her bag.”
That is when Fyre made a quick decision that she thought would be harmless. She saw the shoe sitting there and moved it, thinking it would just lead to a tiny laugh. In her head, the joke was simple. Tegan would look for the shoe, spot it nearby, put it on, and everyone would move on with the night.
“I went, ‘Oh.’ And I just put it just up. Once I put it up, I thought, oh, that’ll be funny. She’ll look, oh where is it? Oh there it is and put it on.”
That is not how it landed. Fyre said she only realized months later that Tegan had already been dealing with a rough day. When Tegan brought it up in the locker room, Fyre learned that the missing shoe was just one more problem piled onto everything else.
“I found out months later. I was in the locker room and she started talking about that day. Like, something had happened and then another thing had happened and then she lost her shoe and I was like, ‘Oh, no.’”
The timing got even worse because Tegan then went out for her match and ended up getting busted open. Once Fyre heard that part, the harmless prank did not feel very harmless anymore. Fyre said that was when she knew she had to tell Tegan the truth. The joke was not meant to hurt anyone, but once she realized how bad the day had been, she came clean.
“And then she went out to the match and got her face busted open. I was like, ‘I’m really sorry. I have to tell you.’”
Looking back, Fyre admitted the whole thing became way bigger than she ever expected.
“No, it was actually a lot bigger deal than that and I feel so bad.”
She wrapped up the story by making it clear that this was not some mean locker room prank. It was a small joke with no bad intentions, but it ended up hitting at the worst possible time.
“That’s the worst one that did not have bad intentions but worked out in the worst possible way. I’m so sorry Tegan. I’m so, so sorry.”
It sounds like Alba Fyre meant it as a harmless rib, but the timing could not have been worse for Tegan Nox. What was supposed to be a quick laugh became another headache on a bad day, and Fyre clearly still feels awful about it.
