AJ Styles is heading into the WWE Hall of Fame this year — but he already thinks the ceremony itself could use a major change.
While speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, AJ Styles addressed the length of the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony and suggested WWE consider spacing the event out instead of holding it every year. Styles explained that running the ceremony annually may be part of why the show feels so long and overwhelming for both fans and talent.
“I really believe we could probably do the Hall of Fame every other year, or maybe put some years in between and make it more special. I think it’s going to be really difficult to do this every year. Just a suggestion.”
He also pointed out that the length of the ceremony itself might be part of the problem, especially when speeches stretch far beyond their intended time limits.
“Do we need it to go that long? I don’t know that we need to. I’m sure they give these guys times, ‘No longer than 30 minutes.’ An hour and a half later, ‘Alright. Wrapping it up.’ I understand it. I’m sure once I get up there, I’m thinking, ‘This won’t be long,’ but then you’ll talk about things that are important to you.”
Styles also compared the situation to WrestleMania, noting how the event expanded to two nights partly because the show had grown too large for a single evening.
The 2026 WWE Hall of Fame class includes Styles alongside Stephanie McMahon, Demolition, Dennis Rodman, Sycho Sid, and Bad News Brown. The ceremony is scheduled to air at midnight ET following SmackDown, with The Miz and Michael Cole set to host the event.
With Styles about to give his own Hall of Fame speech, his comments raise an interesting question about whether WWE should rethink how often the ceremony takes place.
