AJ Styles has added another title to his résumé, but this one has nothing to do with championships. The WWE veteran can now legally officiate weddings, and he already has his first ceremony lined up.

Styles revealed the unexpected news on The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, explaining that one of his closest friends asked him to handle a major family moment.

“I can marry people now. That’s right.”

Styles said the request came from a longtime friend he met in college whose daughter is preparing to get married. The former WWE Champion admitted he is taking the responsibility seriously. Styles said he plans to attend two weddings before officiating the ceremony so he can study the process and make sure he has the wording down.

“One of my best friends, who I went to college with—we’ve been close ever since then—his daughter is getting married, and she needed somebody to marry them. Here I go. I’m going to be the guy.”

“I’ve got two weddings that I’m going to see before I actually do the one that I’m doing. I’m going to make sure I get all my words correct and everything like that.”

Styles joked that becoming qualified was nowhere near as difficult as people might imagine. There was no brutal training course, no complicated exam and no long approval process.

“I’d love to tell you how hard it is to be able to marry people, as far as getting your license or whatever it is that you get, but it’s just filling it out online.”

He also admitted he will need to watch some videos and figure out exactly what to say before the big day.

“I’m going to have to watch videos on how to do this stuff and what to say. Surely I can figure it out.”

Speaking in front of a wedding crowd should not be much of a problem for Styles. After spending years performing inside packed arenas, he joked that the ceremony probably will not include 10,000 people. Styles then opened the door to an even wilder possibility. Once the building he is developing is finished, he suggested wrestling-themed weddings could potentially become part of the operation.

“I don’t know how many people are going to be there, but I’m sure it’s not 10,000 people. I’ve been able to speak in front of that many people before, so I think it’ll be okay.”

“Maybe, if you want to have a wrestling wedding, hopefully when my building’s done, here we are. Not saying it’s going to happen. I’m just throwing it out there.”

AJ Styles has spent most of his career helping create unforgettable wrestling moments. Now, he is preparing to stand in front of a couple and make one of the biggest moments of their lives official.
