AJ Styles doesn’t see Kenny Omega ever walking away from AEW for WWE, and his reason is pretty simple: Omega has already put too much of himself into building the company.
While speaking on the Phenomenally Retro podcast, Styles was asked whether his longtime friend could eventually show up in WWE now that he is once again AEW World Champion. AJ didn’t tease it, leave the door cracked, or give the usual “never say never” answer. He immediately questioned why Omega would even want to do it.
“Why? Why would you? Right? I mean, he’s on the board when it comes to AEW. He’s put his heart and soul into it. It’s like me. Would we ever see AJ Styles in AEW? Why?”
Styles said that when he signs with a promotion, his job is to give that company everything he has. It doesn’t matter what fans online think about the brand or how much people enjoy comparing one company to another.
“I like the company that I work for, despite what everybody else thinks. I’m not, ‘Oh, there’s another company.’ Dude, my job is to do the best for the company that I’m working for. No matter which company I work for, my job is to do the best for it. And I’m going to do that. That’s just who I am.”
AJ also made it clear that his loyalty isn’t about blindly defending a corporate logo. He sees it as standing up for the wrestlers and crew members beside him every week—the people he knows are working hard to make WWE television happen.
“Again, I’ve said this before, it’s not me protecting WWE. It’s me protecting the people that work for WWE, my peers, and the guys that I care about, the women that I care about that are there. So, I will defend them because I know they’re busting their tail to put on a great show.”
That same respect is why Styles refuses to join the WWE-versus-AEW war either. He knows the people in AEW are putting in the same kind of work, trying to create their own show and give fans something different. So while AJ is committed to WWE, he isn’t interested in tearing down Omega’s company to prove it.
“And I’m not going to bash AEW because those guys are doing the exact same thing. They think they’re, you know, whatever they’re doing and trying to be different and all these things. I get it. I get it.”
The Phenomenal One told fans there is nothing wrong with preferring one show over another. The problem starts when people act like enjoying WWE means they have to attack AEW, or vice versa.
“So, I’m not going to do that. That’s not what I’m about. I think these guys—to each their own. If you like one and don’t like the other, good. Good. But there’s no reason to just bash because they’re different shows. I’m not going to do that.”
Back in 2023, WWE made a serious push to sign Omega and The Young Bucks, with Omega considered one of the company’s most wanted names. The Elite ultimately re-signed with AEW, and judging by Styles’ comments, he believes that is exactly where Kenny belongs.
Kenny Omega heading to WWE will probably remain one of those dream scenarios fans keep talking about, but AJ Styles clearly isn’t expecting it. To him, Omega has already chosen his side, invested years into AEW, and built too much there to simply walk away now.
Do you agree with AJ Styles that Kenny Omega will finish his career in AEW, or could WWE still make the move happen someday? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comments.
