Kenny Omega may have lost the AEW World Championship at All In, but it doesn’t look like he’ll have much time to sit around wondering what comes next. With Will Ospreay now carrying the title, AEW reportedly already has another direction lined up for Omega.
While speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro revealed that the plan coming out of All In is to move the Best Bout Machine directly into a program with The New Level.
“This is what they’re going to do with Kenny, which is enter him directly into a program with The New Level.”
That would put Omega across from Kofi Kingston and Austin Creed almost immediately after they finally landed in AEW. The timing is interesting because those two haven’t exactly been shy about who they’ve wanted to wrestle since arriving.
Kingston recently told SI’s The Takedown that working with Omega and the Young Bucks has been something they’ve talked about for nearly a decade. Their history goes all the way back to E3, where the two sides turned a Street Fighter V showdown into something that already felt a little like a wrestling angle.
“We, and this is common knowledge, have wanted to work with the Young Bucks and Kenny and The Elite for a very, very long time. We put this out into the universe almost a decade ago.”
Creed felt the same way. The E3 encounter gave them a chance to play around with the rivalry through video games, but it never replaced the match they actually wanted inside a wrestling ring.
“That very much scratched the itch that was in the back of my brain. To be able to have the opportunity to possibly get the match—that’s wrestling.”
Now the pieces are actually there to make it happen. Kingston and Creed made their surprise AEW debut at All In and immediately walked away with the AEW World Trios Championship, while Omega’s night ended very differently.
There’s still the obvious question of where the Young Bucks fit into all of this, especially considering Kingston and Creed have spent years talking about facing all three members of The Elite. The New Level also currently holds the Trios Titles, which gives AEW an easy reason to eventually bring Matt and Nick Jackson into the picture alongside Omega.
For now, though, the reported direction starts with Kenny. After years of Kingston and Creed talking about getting their hands on Omega, AEW apparently isn’t planning on making them wait much longer now that they’re finally under the same roof.
