Dralistico might already be gone from AEW if it wasn’t for one thing — injury time. His contract should have expired by now, but AEW tacked on extra months that will keep him around until December, and WWE could be waiting on the other side.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez revealed that Dralistico’s original deal has essentially run its course. The only reason he’s still under contract is because AEW added time for the period he missed due to injury.
“I do know that Dralistico’s contract would already have expired, but they tacked on injury time, which takes his contract through December.”
That makes his recent “Maybe not for long?” post look even more interesting. Dralistico shared a photo of himself behind bars and handcuffed earlier this month, immediately setting off speculation that he was counting down the days until his AEW deal was finished.
AEW hasn’t completely given up on keeping him either. Alvarez said there were talks about a new deal when the injury time was added, but right now there’s a chance that Dralistico could end up heading elsewhere.
“Apparently, when they tacked on the injury time, there were discussions of re-signing. So we’ll wait and see, but Dralistico will either go to WWE and team up with his brother or end up under the mask as Sin Cara.”
The brother Alvarez is talking about is Dragon Lee, which would obviously give Dralistico a pretty easy connection if WWE comes calling. There’s also been recent talk about WWE possibly dusting off the Sin Cara character with somebody new under the mask, and Alvarez threw that out as another possibility.
More importantly, Alvarez doesn’t think WWE is some long-shot option here. He actually put the chances of Dralistico attempting to make the jump at better than 50 percent, although a big offer from AEW could obviously change things pretty quickly.
“I would say it’s a better than 50% chance he attempts to go to WWE, but they might throw a million dollars at him, and he might stay. Either way, he’s getting paid.”
Dralistico hasn’t wrestled for AEW since the June 6 Collision taping, where he teamed with RUSH and Sammy Guevara in a failed bid for the AEW World Trios Championship. That long absence already had people wondering what was going on before his handcuffed photo added even more fuel to the fire.
For now, Dralistico is still an AEW wrestler and there’s no deal with WWE on the table that we know of. But with injury time being the only thing keeping his current contract alive until December, the next couple of months could get very interesting.
What do you think Dralistico’s next move should be once his current AEW deal runs out? Let us know in the comments below.
