Mark Briscoe’s absence from AEW programming has led to questions—but now there’s a clear reason why he’s been off television.
The AEW star hasn’t been seen on TV for some time, leading to speculation about whether he was injured or simply taking time away. That question was put to PWInsider’s Mike Johnson during a Q&A session—and he provided a direct answer. Johnson confirmed that Briscoe is still part of AEW, but he’s currently sidelined, dealing with an injury.
“He is still with AEW. The word we have heard is that he's hurt and is off to heal up.”
Briscoe last competed on the March 11, 2026 edition of Dynamite, where he teamed with The Young Bucks in a losing effort against Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood and Tommaso Ciampa.
Before stepping away, Briscoe had been heavily involved in a feud with Ciampa, which saw him drop the TNT Championship during that run. With this update, it’s clear Briscoe’s absence isn’t storyline-related but due to needing time to recover, putting his return timeline firmly in question until he’s cleared.
Do you think AEW should’ve addressed Mark Briscoe’s absence on TV, or is it better to keep things quiet until he’s ready to return? Let us know your thoughts.
