AEW is loading up CMLL’s card in Mexico City this weekend, and the timing is impossible to ignore. Several AEW wrestlers are heading to Arena México on Sunday while CMLL runs directly opposite the second night of AAA TripleMania.
CMLL announced Wednesday that PAC will face Máscara Dorada in a first-time singles match. “Speedball” Mike Bailey will also be in action, teaming with Místico against Averno and AEW TNT Champion Kevin Knight.
Bandido and Komander are set to face Soberano Jr. and Titán, while former AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion will enter a three-way tag team match against STARDOM’s Maika and Starlight Kid and CMLL’s Olympia and Persephone. The show will also feature NJPW star Zack Sabre Jr. teaming with Bad Dude Tito against Hechicero and Esfinge.
What makes the lineup even more interesting is what will be happening across Mexico City at the same time. CMLL’s event goes head-to-head with the second night of AAA TripleMania, giving wrestling fans two major cards in the same city on the same night.
There is also an obvious promotional wrinkle behind the battle. WWE acquired AAA in 2025, while AEW continues to work closely with CMLL, meaning both sides are bringing recognizable talent into Mexico during the same weekend.
CMLL isn’t stopping there either. Jeff Jarrett is also returning to Arena México on September 18, where he will face Blue Panther in singles competition at CMLL’s 93rd Aniversario event.
Jarrett appeared on Tuesday’s edition of CMLL Informa and personally issued the challenge to the 65-year-old lucha libre legend.
“That’s right, on the 93rd Aniversario show, the granddaddy of them all, the biggest one of the year, I’m here to challenge you, the living legend, mano a mano, Blue Panther. Jeff Jarrett vs. Blue Panther.”
Blue Panther accepted, locking in another notable international matchup for CMLL just days after this weekend’s loaded card.
With AEW sending PAC, Mike Bailey, Kevin Knight, Bandido, Komander and Divine Dominion to CMLL on the exact night AAA is running TripleMania across town, Mexico City is about to become one crowded wrestling battleground. Fans will have no shortage of options, but the real story may be just how aggressively both sides are stacking the deck.
