Jay White apparently came pretty damn close to joining the Death Riders last year, and AEW reportedly had a huge angle planned to make it happen. The only reason fans never saw it was because White got hurt before AEW could pull the trigger.

Speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro discussed Jon Moxley’s victory over Swerve Strickland at AEW Dynasty 2025 and claimed the original finish was supposed to look completely different. Instead of the match ending with the finish fans ultimately saw, Jay White was reportedly supposed to show up and hit Strickland with the Blade Runner.

“The original finish wasn’t BTE Trigger, Death Rider. One, two, three. It was supposed to be a Blade Runner. Like, Jay White was supposed to join the Death Riders.”

That would have been a pretty massive twist for White, who apparently was supposed to officially align himself with Moxley and the Death Riders through the interference. Another member of the panel pointed out why those plans never happened.

“Yeah, but he got injured, you know.”

White’s injury apparently forced AEW to throw out the planned turn and start moving pieces around. Instead, the company eventually went in another direction coming out of Dynasty, including setting up the Young Bucks against Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland.

“Because, yeah, because instead they set up the Bucks versus Ospreay and Swerve.”

So what fans saw at Dynasty apparently wasn’t AEW’s original endgame at all. White was reportedly supposed to be responsible for Strickland’s loss and come out of the show as the newest member of the Death Riders, only for his injury to force AEW into a completely different direction.

Do you think adding another major name to the Death Riders would have made the group even better, or was the faction already strong enough as it was? Let us know what you think in the comments.
