AEW isn’t done with Arena Mexico just yet. After the success of last year’s Grand Slam Mexico show, the company is already planning a return to the legendary venue in 2026. However, fans shouldn’t expect the event to land in the same timeframe as before.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the next Grand Slam Mexico event is already in the works, but it will take place later in the year instead of June.

“There are plans for a Grand Slam Mexico show at Arena Mexico in 2026, but they will be later in the year than June.”

The first Grand Slam Mexico took place on June 18, 2025, and sold out Arena Mexico ahead of the show. That event marked AEW’s first time running the historic venue and featured a mix of AEW and CMLL talent throughout the card. Because the debut event drew strong interest, AEW appears ready to make Arena Mexico a regular stop as part of its international Grand Slam schedule.

Right now, no exact date has been announced for the 2026 show, and no matches have been revealed. The only clear detail is that the event is expected to happen later in the year than last time. With AEW continuing to expand outside the United States, returning to Arena Mexico shows the company sees Mexico as an important market moving forward.

Do you think AEW returning to Arena Mexico in 2026 will top the first Grand Slam Mexico event, or should the company focus on expanding into new locations instead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
