Adam Copeland’s “Aw, dude…” has officially become more than just a meme. After the line blew up across wrestling social media, AEW has now turned it into an official t-shirt.
The moment came from Copeland’s now-famous promo exchange with Ricky Starks on AEW Collision back in October 2023. Fans have spent the past week flooding social media with clips and memes from the segment, particularly after Starks fired back with, “That sent me over the edge,” only for Copeland to answer with a disappointed, “Aw, dude…”
Apparently, AEW was paying attention and wants to make a profit out of it. ShopAEW took to Twitter to unveil the new shirt, leaning right into the joke.
“Go places in style with this new Adam Copeland – Aw, Dude t-shirt that will really set your look over the edge. Available now on ShopAEW.”
The merchandise drop comes just after Copeland finally addressed the promo that started it all. Speaking with SHAK Wrestling, Copeland laughed off years of rumors that he and Starks had genuine backstage heat after the exchange. Fans had long speculated the two went off script because of how personal some of the insults became, but Copeland said there was never any lingering issue between them.
“We got out there. He started, you know, cutting a promo on me, and I was like, well, I’m not in an angle with him, okay? And that was it. It’s just like a thousand promos in the Attitude Era, you know. By the next day, it’s like, okay, now what do we got? Like, I don’t care. I’m sure Ricky doesn’t. I don’t care.”
Ironically, the promo has probably become more popular now than it was when it originally happened. What fans once argued about has turned into one of wrestling’s favorite reaction memes, and now AEW is getting in on the joke too.
Would you wear the “Aw, Dude…” shirt, or is this one meme that should’ve stayed on social media? Let us know in the comments.
