Kenny Omega’s highly anticipated tag team partnership with Chris Jericho for the AEW World Tag Team Championships faced a significant setback due to Omega’s battle with diverticulitis. This severe medical condition required urgent surgery, putting their plans on hold. However, it now seems that an absent AEW star wants to make a return to the company alongside Kenny Omega.

On the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega made his first appearance since December. He talked about his recovery from diverticulitis before The Elite, including The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada, launched surprise attack and he was written off AEW television.

Kenny Omega would then undergo surgery for his condition and is currently on the road to recovery. Naturally, fans are now wondering when Kenny Omega will be able to make his in-ring return.

On August 6, it was announced that Kota Ibushi would be competing at the August 25th DDT Pro Wrestling event. Ibushi later confirmed that he received permission from AEW to participate in the event.

”Ahhhhhh!! It’s been about 8 years. It feels nostalgic yet new. Akito-kun, Dino-san. I only have memories of both of them. And I never thought I would cross paths with Endo, who I had entrusted to him. I’ve got permission from AEW, so everything’s fine. Oh, young wrestlers, please be gentle with me. I think I’ll go at full power. Did he pick up the microphone at that time? Was it a coincidence? Was it inevitable?”

Kota Ibushi then took to Twitter and clarified that AEW is his home and emphasized that he plans to make a full comeback alongside Kenny Omega.

‘No, my home is AEW. We’ll see a full comeback with Kenny”

Kenny Omega needs a lot of rehabilitation and steps to fulfil before he can make his in-ring return. Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see when Omega will return to in-ring competition, as fans would love to see Omega and Ibushi reunite as the Golden Lovers again.
