WWE Hall of Famer JBL has been showing up at different independent wrestling events, surprising fans with appearances outside of WWE. Recently, he even attacked James Ellsworth and has now explained why he did it.

In the past few months, JBL has been making headlines by appearing at several high-profile events. He first made an appearance alongside Nic Nemeth at AAA’s Triplemania event, followed by a shocking return at GCW’s Homecoming event and then on Ohio Valley Wrestling, before returning to TNA again.

James Ellsworth, known for his catchphrase, “Any man with two hands has a fighting chance,” worked with WWE from 2014 to 2018. Ellsworth remains active in independent wrestling and recently had a match in Hagerstown, Maryland. During this match, JBL showed up unexpectedly and hit Ellsworth with a powerful clothesline, to the crowd’s excitement.

Ellsworth shared a video of the moment on Twitter, saying that getting hit by JBL “sucked.” JBL replied, saying he clotheslined Ellsworth just because he heard he was wrestling an hour away from his house, so JBL had to show up and clothesline him, as he said, “Heard James was only an hour from the house, so I figured I’d go clothesline him.”

We will have to wait and see whether JBL will make more surprise appearances in the independent circuit, as fans have fun speculating when and where he’ll just pop up next and James Ellsworth certainly felt his wrath.
